Class experiance

Module one was a great experience for me I leaned many useful things in both TECH and BC; I really surprised myself and what I accomplished. But there are many things I could have done better in the first module, like participate more in class, code switching and have better diction. And be a little more prepared for class.

My neighborhood

I am who I am because of the neighborhood I lived in. I lived in the downtown area of San Mateo, Were it seems that all the minorities are put there by the rich people. In the neighborhood I lived in you saw a lot of ethnicity's all living in the same area and going to the same school. In my neighborhood you saw the usual gang members fighting and causing chaos making my neighborhood the “Bad neighborhood” or the “Bad part of town”. So of course being Latino people thought I would end up in a gang or probably ending up in jail, at one point I did feel that I would end up like that. But I didn’t want to end up like that, I wanted show every one that I could do better. But I had a hard struggle with that because people really judge you and put you down for how you look and who hang out with. So that's what motivated me to do better to show who I really was, to prove to people I’m more than meets the eye. In High school (living in the same area) I went to school with a lot of my friends from my neighborhood. A lot of them got involve with the slang and ways of where we are from, but for me I picked a more different route. I used less slang and was at a point considered a “Mexican nerd” which I didn't mind because I would rather be something then nothing. But I started hanging with the wrong crowd and ended up being identified as a cholo which is slang for Mexican gangster. I started doing badly in school and messing around a lot. But then I saw what I was doing and that I was accomplishing nothing. So I got myself on top of things and got back on track, because I wanted to prove to everyone else that I could do better. And I wanted to set a good example for my little brother and show him that if you put your mind to it and work hard you can accomplish anything you want.

who`s fault is it?

I believe that companies who take advantage and profit from low-wage earners are exacerbating the opportunity divide, because they are taking advantage of people who may not know what they’re getting there self’s into. For example in the article the poverty business it showed how people are badly informed or not informed at all. It gave the example of Thomas who wasn’t sure what interest was, and because of that she ended up paying 2,500 in fees. And because of the opportunity divide they might not have know or heard about loans and fees or they might have been misinformed. Who holds responsibility for alleviating this issue? At first I believed that it was the governments fault for not doing anything to fix the problem. And the corporations for taking advantage of low-wage earners. But after reading the article again I feel like it’s both the government and corporations fault, it’s the governments fault for not putting the information out there for the common people who really don’t know much about the subject and corporations for been greedy and taking advantage of people. But after reading the article it shows how it’s also the peoples fault for not doing anything to inform them self about the subject. For example there are books on any subject out there that people can read. There are also classes on accounting and things related to banking, that people can take to be more prepared. Over all it’s not just one persons fault it’s everybody’s. It’s the governments fault for not penalizing most of the corporations for doing this. And of course it’s the corporations fault for taking advantage of people. And it’s the peoples fault for not doing anything about it. I think that if people got up and took action this would change and everything would work much better.

my Bio

One of my passions is soccer I’ve played this sport since I was little. I say that playing soccer is one of my passions because I enjoy playing soccer when I play I don’t just play for fun I give it my all. I play with pride but I also know how to except defeat and learn from my mistakes. Playing soccer also relaxes me when I’m stressed or under a lot of pressure or I just want to clear my mind I kick the ball around and it helps me relax. I also consider soccer my hobby because when I have some free time I grab my soccer ball and practice some skills and tricks. Something that’s very important for me is my family. Especially because in my culture being close to your family is a very important thing, my family is also important to me because they have always been there for me. My educational life has had its up and downs like anyone else but in the end I was able to be successful and be the first in my family to graduate from high school which was I very important moment for me and my family. One of my future goals is to be successful in my career in IT and have a good life I don’t want the flashy life and all the money in the world I just want to have a good and stable life. What motivates me is my little brother because his always looking up to me and try`s to do everything that I do so I want to show him that if he also works hard and try`s his best he can also be successful.
